Training and Apprenticeships
The Hinabi Project as part of its mission is working with its Philippine partners to develop apprenticeship for young weavers. Young weavers are faced with multiple competing issues around school, social life and family traditions that may make training with master weavers complicated and unsustainable. Developing an apprenticeship program within the framework of community reality and needs is one way of addressing these concerns. Paired with a trainor program for master weavers, NGP and governmental support for needed resources, the apprenticeship program may become a community-based effort.
