Salika: Rising From the Ashes of Marawi

Before the 5-month urban war devastated Marawi City, a picturesque town that sits south of the province's largest lake Lanao, it was a thriving trade center for Mindanao. The months long war between the Philippine army and an ISIS-inspired group, reduced the city to a rubble not unlike the images you see of war torn Syria.
